Jim Whitlock was born in Rome, Georgia in 1945. He grew up in the South, in and around the metro-Atlanta area. He is married to Joanne Ellison Whitlock, who works with him in his Fayette County, Georgia Law Practice.

The Whitlocks live and work in Fayette County, where they have had ties for almost 30 years. They are members of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Georgia.

Jim holds degrees in Biblical Education as well as a Doctorate of Jurisprudence Degree.

He started his practice in Fayetteville, Georgia in October of 1977. Like most Lawyers, he had a general practice at least for the first 3 or 4 years.

He has restricted his practice over the last 15 years to Criminal Law, Traffic Law, and Non-Contested Civil matters throughout the metro-cities, counties, and occasionally in Athens, Dahlonega, LaGrange, and other distant places.

Jim has served as President of the Fayette County Bar Association, Treasurer of the Georgia Municipal Judges Association and is currently a member of the Griffin Judicial Circuit Bar.

He is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

In 1978 he opened one of Georgia's first D.U.I. schools and began handling a great number of D.U.I. and Traffic cases.

Later he sold the D.U.I. School and became a Municipal Judge in the City of Fayetteville, and in Riverdale, where he served for a total of about 12 years.

Jim and Joanne work together to assist each client with their case on the premise that if you are innocent you need to be defended…if you’re guilty, you need to be represented…either way, you need professional help, and they want to help you.
